Rufus, on the left, with his brother, GeeGaw
As a traveling feline, with miles under my pads, I would like to share some of my “lessons learned” as well as tips and tricks. Traveling is lots of fun and well worth your time; but being prepared and researching the trip beforehand or paw, are essential to a happy and enjoyable time.
Before the Trip

Planning is the key!
Some enjoy the planing as much as the going. Where and when are the first questions. Have you got the cash $, is the next item.
On the move, enjoying the zeitgeist
Getting the most out of every mile…
“Pilgrim, there is no path; paths are made by walking.”
– Antonio Machado

Where Ever You Go, There You are!
“You might be tempted to avoid the messiness of daily living for the tranquility of stillness and peacefulness. This of course would be an attachment to stillness, and like any strong attachment, it leads to delusion. It arrests development and short-circuits the cultivation of wisdom.”
― Jon Kabat-Zinn, Wherever You Go, There You Are: Mindfulness Meditation in Everyday Life
Souvenirs are important!
Wikipedia: A souvenir is an object a person acquires for the memories the owner associates with it. A souvenir can be any object that can be collected or purchased and transported home by the traveler as a memento of a visit. While there is no set minimum or maximum cost that one is required to adhere to when purchasing a souvenir, etiquette would suggest to keep it within a monetary amount that the receiver would not feel uncomfortable with when presented the souvenir.

Keep a journal, log or diary of the events:
A diary is a record with discrete entries arranged by date reporting on what has happened over the course of a day or other period. A personal diary may include a person’s experiences, thoughts, and/or feelings, excluding comments on current events outside the writer’s direct experience. Wikipedia
- Resolve to keep a journal, log or diary
- Each day add a new entry
- Share this with all concerned
- Keep up with all comments
Returning and sharing your memories.
Oh, no! not another boring travel slide show… Death by PowerPoint!

Do folks run when they see you upon your return? Could it be your presentation of your trip? Is it too long or BORING! Perhaps you might just ask first if they are interested before you unload your latest adventure upon them.
Where to Next?

Listen to Radio Astronomy
My posts on the Green Bank Radio Telescope has prompted me to wonder just what all this sounds like. As a ham radio operator, N8GMQ, my first thought was to listening rather than the radio astronomy images that we are familiar with like the ones found at the National Radio Astronomy Observatory’s Multimedia Gallery. The… Read more
